The Sky is Not the Limit - Australia in Space
Australia has a proud history of involvement in the global space sector dating back to Apollo 11 moon landing. Today, it is home to an innovative and growing space ecosystem, which can proudly boast expertise in small satellites, rockets, emerging launch capability and downstream space intelligence companies. Our space industry is already worth AUD$5 billion to the Australian economy, but it's not just the economic contributions that make it so compelling. Space innovations applied to earth can tackle global challenges like climate change, fighting wildfires and directly support farming, mining and energy sectors. Space data is the new big data. Join Mani Thiru to learn how AWS cloud services like advanced analytics and AI/MLgenerative AI are being used to accelerate space and satellite missions right here in Australia and across the world. #AWSInnovation

Space exploration has served as the grandest endeavor the human race has ever undertaken. Reaching out beyond our blue green planet represents the next logical step in the evolution of the human race. While it’s tempting to think of space as the final frontier with astronauts hurtling towards the moon and mars – a lot of space technology has direct societal benefits that improve the quality of life on earth for all.
From satellite enabled farming to predicting bush fires, space exploration has initiated the economic development of space today that year after year, delivers high returns for invested funds in space.
In this session, we will talk about how Australia is developing national space capability in areas of competitive advantage and discuss international partnerships including the Artemis Mission with NASA. We will cover the increasingly critical topic of space sustainability; reducing debris, risk and promoting good behaviour in space for peaceful purposes and socioeconomic benefit over the long term. Finally, we’ll share how 1000s of new jobs and innovations are being introduced with spill-over benefits into defence, agriculture, mining, health, and manufacturing industries. Space is here to improved the lives of all Australians.
