Australia's Future as a Tech Powerhouse
WED, OCT 18, 10:00 AM
Conference
Pre-pandemic, Australia saw uninterrupted economic growth for nearly 30 years, underpinned by a mining boom. If Australia is going to hand over to the next generation of Australians a country with more opportunity and increasing living standards, it will need to diversify and find a new continuous ‘boom’. The tech sector is already starting to provide that next boom and if we get it right Australia can be a global tech powerhouse driving prosperity for the next 30 years. What is our strategy as a nation, and what are the key components needed? It will take vision and the right ingredients for Australia to be a global technology player bringing together government, business, research, and education.

Humans are remarkable. Arguably, the evolution of our mind’s intelligence and adaptability have made humans the most dominant species on the planet. But what’s our super power? Many species on earth come together to work as a team, herd, colony or community. Led by Cameron Webb, expert on leadership and team development, alongside an expert panel, this session will explore:

- Stories of the benefits of belonging
- How leading community creators are building belonging at scale
Microgiving
FRI, OCT 20, 12:00 PM
Conference
This panel explores the great range of grant opportunities, focusing on microgiving compared to often-less-efficient macro efforts.
When it comes to making an impact in your community and beyond, it can feel like your efforts are a drop in the ocean. While on the other side, finding funding for your community project, art exhibition, or groundbreaking invention can be an ongoing cycle of red tape and rejection.
Microgiving is changing all of that. It uses small donations from individuals to collectively support a good cause or project.
Join our panel of leaders from three unique Sydney funders who will demonstrate how they are making widespread, sustainable impact using microgiving. Collectively, The Awesome Foundation, Blackbird Foundation, and Supper Sessions have donated over $150,000 in funding to hundreds of local NSW initiatives.
We’ll explore why and how charitable giving via microgiving is exploding - and how it compares to other forms of philanthropy.
Discover the financial benefits that come with incorporating microgiving into your fundraising strategy and the platforms that can help you reach an altruistic community of microgivers.
You may even walk away wanting to apply for - or create - your own grant!
