Never waste a crisis - construction innovation amidst the problem of housing availability and climate change
Date & Time: Mon, Oct 14, 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM
Venue: ICC Sydney, Room E3.1 & E3.2
About
The housing crisis is a global issue… and we’ve heard all about it! How can we leverage new construction technologies such as 3D printing to address the housing affordability crisis and construction productivity challenges, without compromising quality or sustainability? What are the regulatory and logistical hurdles that need to be overcome to bring these innovative methods into the mainstream? How can we ensure that additive manufacturing contributes to a regenerative future, minimising its environmental impact and maximising its societal benefits? It's a wicked problem, but is the current crisis an opportunity? In this discussion, an expert panel of commercial, academic, and design industry backgrounds will outline the challenges that we are facing with housing availability and within the construction industry and explore the transformative potential of innovative and emerging innovations which might help tackle these challenges, including large scale 3D printing, modular and prefabricated construction, and new design and procurement models. Moderated by BVN Principal Sally Campbell, the panel includes: • Prof. Mathew Aitchison, CEO - Building 4.0 CRC • Nick Holden, Founder - Contour 3D • Ninotschka Titchkosky, Founder, CEO Systems Reef (and former Co-CEO of BVN)
