Gabba

Gabba is the solo project of Manila-based musician Gabba Santiago, best known for his work on instrumental rock act Degs and Gabba (formerly Tom’s Story) and indie rock band Fools and Foes. He has also done session work for other Filipino musicians such as Clara Benin and Reese Lansangan.

Transitioning from a band set-up and scaled dynamics to a solitary project, Gabba adopted his mononym to approach and steer a new direction for his artistic vision, one that allows him to explore all elements of music-making without restriction and with a newfound appreciation.

On his solo venture, Gabba recontextualizes the merits of isolation, playing with more textures to his signature brisk guitar and drumming styles inspired not just by his music heroes this time, but also harvesting the organic ambience of places he’s been to. The result manifests with the same mettle of handiwork one would expect from his band ventures, if not more individualistic and wholly his.
