This year marks the 101st anniversary of the Motion Picture Association, which is the global voice for the film, television, and streaming industry. The MPA’s six members represent some of the largest content creators in the world, partnering with local industry to make compelling stories, and delivering them to audiences everywhere on every available screen. The Asia-Pacific screen industry, which drives growth in the international box office and in the global online video market, has surpassed expectations in recent years, emerging from the pandemic to satisfy audience demand for incredible content. In 2022, China, Japan, and India claimed the top three spots in the international box office. Films and series from the region achieved critical acclaim, and international streaming services added millions of Asian subscribers. International production companies have invested billions in new films and television shows, fuelling the region’s rise as a global production hub, and showcasing how innovative storytelling can connect audiences around the world. Join Charlie Rivkin, Chairman & CEO of the Motion Picture Association, and Mark Scott, Vice Chancellor of Sydney University, as they explore the themes that define the Asia Pacific’s vibrant screen sector.
