Mic Black is one of the founders of Rainstick, a novel biotech startup that mimics thunderstorms to grow crops bigger, faster and more sustainably. As Chief Thunderstorm Creator, he is leading a team of ambitious scientists developing novel technology to discover (and commercialise) the link between electric fields making crops more resilient to a changing weather and climate conditions. Rainstick is proudly built on thousands of years of First Nations knowledge, and named by CSIRO as a "deep-tech gamechanger", Mic aims to bring a sense of hope to the often disheartening rhetoric around the future of food and bioproducts.
