About
Matthew Connell is the Principal Curator at the Powerhouse Museum. He graduated with a degree in physics before working in seismology, microelectronics research and computing. In 1991 he joined the Powerhouse Museum as the Curator of Computing and Mathematics. He has acquired many very significant objects and archives for the Powerhouse Museum within his fields - calculation, measurement, mathematics, computation, computing histories and applications. He has curated several exhibitions relating to computing history, AI, Logic, Robotics, Interface Design, Media Arts, Digital Preservation, Gambling in Australia, and Digital Manufacturing Technologies. His collecting, research and publishing cover calculating and computing histories, the history of mathematics, logic, innovation, interaction design, STEM education and learning, interdisciplinary curatorship, and museology. He has participated in a number of ARC and other funded research projects. He is an Adjunct Professor with the iCinema Research Centre at UNSW.
