Future Sydney: A Citizen-Centric City Tour

SAT, OCT 21, 10:30 AM
Conference
Join us for a tour of Sydney, Australia, where we will explore how the city is transforming into a green, global and connected city that prioritises social diversity and sustainability. Led by Sydney's resident architect-councillor, this tour will showcase the foresight and innovations being delivered in the Harbour City and how they are prototyping solutions that future cities will need in the 21st Century. As we explore the neighbourhoods around the SXSW Sydney festival precinct, we will witness firsthand the creative production and artistic expression that is being carved out in the city's public spaces. We will learn about the opportunities for Sydneysiders to coexist with nature in the face of a climate emergency, and how community-led sustainable and inclusive design is being prioritised in the city's development. During the tour, we will visit the projects that are making Sydney an international leader in design excellence. The tour will also highlight the importance of citizen-centric design in creating a sustainable and liveable city, and a more connected community. We will learn about how Sydneysiders are being engaged in the city's development process and how their input is shaping the future of a global city. Meeting point is the Expo Cafe on Level 4 of the ICC.
We acknowledge the Gadigal people of the Eora Nation as the Traditional Custodians of this land we now call Sydney, where this event will take place. We pay our respects to their continuing connection with cultural, spiritual and educational practices, and extend this respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples. Always was, always will be.
