Department of Employment and Workplace Relations Director of Self-Employment Services

Murray has worked across a number of federal government portfolios including employment, education and telecommunications. Since joining the department, Murray has held various roles, which have involved; the consultation on the redesign of employment services, extensive experience implementing and managing programs and working with the senior executive and government. Murray brings a strong knowledge of the employment sector, program management and stakeholder relations to his current role. Prior to joining the public service, Murray obtained a Bachelor of Laws (with honours) from the University of New England.

Join us in a hands-on workshop designed to help you navigate and access Government services and support in a one stop business enablement hub. We’ve got you covered and will have experts on-site to connect you with programs that will support growth and acceleration of your business. This content is applicable to all industries; to people of all ages, ethnicities, and backgrounds; to businesses at all stages of growth; to business owners and those who dream of their own. The workshop will be staffed by a combination of speakers from government agencies that can speak to you about Government programs, funding, incentives, tools, resources and support that is available to startups and small businesses. In this workshop you can speak with experts who can provide information on: • Accessing guides to set up a new business • Applying for a business name, domain name and registered trade mark • Applying for grants, venture capital partnerships and business support programs • Understanding and applying for the Research and Development Tax Incentive • Accessing the CSIRO On or Innovate to Grow Programs • Accessing the Self-Employment Assistance Program • Assistance to prevent, resolve or negotiate disputes with other businesses or Commonwealth agencies.
