About
Blanca Gallego Luxan is an Associate Professor of Clinical Artificial Intelligence (AI) at the University of New South Wales and an expert in AI education in Medicine. Throughout her career, she has made significant and innovative contributions to the development of computational models for diverse applications, including climate dynamics, environmental economics, bio-surveillance of infectious diseases, patient safety, evidence-based medicine, and clinical decision support. Trained as a physicist, Blanca earned her PhD in climate modelling from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). She then moved to Australia, where she worked at the University of Sydney, developing accounting frameworks for assessing the environmental impact of corporations. In 2006, she joined the Faculty of Medicine and Health at the University of New South Wales. In her current role, Blanca leads a multidisciplinary team focused on improving the safety, equity, and cost-effectiveness of healthcare delivery through the use of technology, as well as on activities to accelerate and support responsible AI innovations in Health.
