Per Saari began his career as a set assistant to film director Robert Redford. Following an executive position with Redford’s Wildwood Enterprises, where he helped develop the feature films Spy Game, The Legend of Bagger Vance, and The Motorcycle Diaries. Emmy and Golden-Globe winning producer Saari co-founded Blossom Films with Nicole Kidman in 2010. Among the projects Saari has produced with Kidman are the films Rabbit Hole, which was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role, Monte Carlo, and The Family Fang. Saari served as executive producer on both seasons of the groundbreaking HBO television series Big Little Lies, starring Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon, which won eight enemies and four Golden Globes, including wins for Saari. Per Saari executive-produced, through Blossom Films, the acclaimed global hit The Undoing, HBO’s number-one rated show of 2020, directed by Susanne Bier, and Nine Perfect Strangers for Hulu, the network’s most watched original series ever. Saari executive-produced the HBO limited series Love and Death, written by David E. Kelley, which debuted April 2023, and Lulu Wang’s six-part limited series Expats for Amazon Studios, which will air in January 2024. On the film side, Saari wrapped production this May on Holland, Michigan, a feature for Amazon Studios which will premiere in 2024. Saari is currently in production on the Blossom Films limited series The Perfect Couple for Netflix and prepping a second season of Hulu’s Nine Perfect Strangers. Saari graduated from Colby College in Maine with a degree in philosophy.

From their debut project, John Cameron Mitchell’s Rabbit Hole in 2010 to the Emmy award winning Big Little Lies, directed by the late Jean Marc Vallée, to the upcoming Lulu Wang series Expats, Blossom Films’ founders have always passionately championed cutting-edge filmmakers. In this exclusive conversation, Kidman and Saari discuss their approach to working with some of the world’s best visionary filmmakers, what they look for in creative partners, their future slate of Australian projects including the adaptation of Liane Moriarty's The Last Anniversary and the process of getting their most recent limited series Love and Death (HBO 2023) to the screen.
