Grace Chung

Head of Research, and Engineering Director, Google

Dr. Grace Chung (BE/BSc UNSW; Ph.D. Elec. Eng. Comp Sci. MIT) is the Engineering Director of Google Research Australia. In her 16+ years tenure at Google, Dr. Chung has excelled in building engineering teams and spearheading advancements in products like ChromeOS, Chrome and Search. Her expertise prior to Google includes research in Speech Recognition, Natural Language Processing, and Machine Learning. In 2022, Dr. Chung was appointed as a founding member and lead for Google Research Australia, reflecting her passion for fundamental Computer Science research, the advancement of Artificial Intelligence and its potential to benefit humanity. A Fulbright Scholar, Dr. Chung holds degrees from both UNSW and Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
