Immersive Audio - The Future of Entertainment

TUE, OCT 17, 4:00 PM
Conference
Top Australian creators, Pat Abboud, Marc Fennell and Chantelle Otten will join Audible’s Karen Appathurai Wiggins for a conversation about a quiet revolution taking place in the entertainment industry. With a plethora of visual streaming options, we’re increasingly turning to audio to provide us with a sense of comfort and a new way of consuming stories. We’re experiencing screen-fatigue. We spend vast amounts of time on computers, smartphones and in front of TV. We’re desperate for a way to switch off yet we don’t want to miss a cultural beat. Audio-storytelling is something truly special - allowing us to escape and harness the power of our imagination, all while we’re learning and discovering. It’s portable and intimate. Some of our favourite storytellers are whispering words of wisdom and escapism in our ears - like having a best friend in your pocket. For many, it’s the nostalgia of being read to as a child – a comforting ritual that we’ve missed or, for many, never even had. Creating stories for audio is no easy feat. Hear from some of the greatest in the business how to stir emotions and educate listeners solely through the power of voice. Images and the written word are omitted and today’s storytellers now have to deep dive into the depths of their very being to create an alternative for our streaming pleasure.

Always was, always will be.
