Dr. Sana Malik

About
Dr. Sana Malik is a Post-Doctoral Researcher at the Climate Change Cluster (C3) at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), Australia. Her research is focused on advancing carbon-neutral biorefinery pathways for the algae industry, all within a circular bioeconomy framework. With over 8 years of experience, Dr. Malik has played a pivotal role in developing algae biorefineries, implementing algae technologies in wastewater treatment, and refining algae harvesting processes. She has extensive expertise in maximizing carbon capture through algae growth and in creating comprehensive, cradle-to-grave processes for the cultivation, processing, and utilization of algae biomass. Currently, she employs phenomics to identify elite algal strains for industrial and environmental applications. Dr. Malik leads several innovative projects that emphasize strain enhancement via adaptive laboratory evolution, metabolic pathway engineering, and phenomics, incorporating advanced technologies such as AI, machine learning, and robotics.
