Amanda Shalala (she/her) is the Deputy Editor of ABC Sport. She was ABC News' FIFA Women's World Cup 2023 Lead, and previously the co-lead of ABC Sport's 50:50 Equality Project, which is dedicated to increasing the coverage of women in sport, as well as people from diverse and underrepresented backgrounds.
She has a Master of Cultural Studies and teaches Sports Media at the University of Technology Sydney.
Amanda's had an extensive career in sports journalism, working across all platforms as a presenter, reporter, commentator, features and line-up producer, digital writer and producer, video editor, and social media content creator.
And she's covered a wide array of major global sporting events, including the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, 2022 Women's Basketball World Cup, four Paralympic Games, and London 2012 Olympics.
