Doctor, Lactation Consultant and Mother of three, Leichhardt Medical and Dental Centre

Dr Kavita is a Breastfeeding and Perinatal Medicine specialist. She has been a doctor for 17 years. Despite working for 6 years in Paediatrics at the Sydney Children’s Hospital Network, including Neonatal Intensive Care (NICU) at the RWH, she had no idea the problems in the perinatal period, the first 12-24 months post birth, till becoming a GP.  It was in the community that she was shocked to see the distress and lack of support for new parents.  

She is dedicated to improving all aspects of women and infant health which is still largely ignored by medicine.  

Outside of medicine, she loves surfing, kung fu and social justice
