TikTok is the number one platform for music discovery, with many artists having emerged from bedrooms to headliners via TikTok. Join music tastemaker & TikTok creator Derrick Gee as he guides us through the stories of five Australian artists who have grown their fanbase, built community, and found inspiration through TikTok's FYP.

Featuring artists YNG MARTYR, ASTON & BEN LEE

Host Derrick Gee, best known for sharing his unique music discoveries, breaking down songs and sounds, and imparting his music and tech knowledge to his engaged TikTok audience, Derrick will lend his experience to the“The Art of Music Discovery” discussion. He'll also delve into how fans uncover and consume new music, as well as the ways in which artists are now connecting with their followers and audiences in 2023. Derrick will be joined by the showcasing artists who will share their experiences and how they’ve connected with global audiences through TikTok.

The panel discussion will be followed by an industry networking event, where Derrick Gee will take us on a sonic journey of music discovery inviting artists, industry, and guests to mingle and share the floor with the TikTok Music team ahead of the live showcase.

PLEASURES PLAYHOUSE is located in a formerly abandoned cinema in Sydney/Eora. It was rediscovered and repurposed into a live music venue by the local music community. The venue has multiple stairs and unfortunately no lift access.

Join Derrick as he breaks down how he thinks about content, storytelling, audience psychology and the much-misunderstood algorithm - and the untapped potential of music creators on the internet. (This talk features a 20 minute Q&A session)
